Recipe to Italian Arancini
One of the famous street foods in Italy is “Italian Arancini.” These are delicious, crispy rice balls filled with various tasty ingredients. Here’s a simple recipe for making arancini:
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked risotto or plain white rice
1 cup mozzarella cheese, diced
1/2 cup cooked peas (optional)
1/2 cup cooked ground meat (like beef)
or sausage)
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt and pepper to taste
Tomato sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Filling:
If using peaches and meat, mix them with the diced mozzarella cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
Form the Rice Balls:
Take a small handful of rice and flatten it in your hand. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center. Enfold the filling with the rice, forming it into a ball. Repeat until all the rice and filling are used up.
Coat the Rice Balls:
Roll each rice ball in flour, making sure it’s fully coated. Dip the floured rice ball into beaten eggs. Roll the egg-coated rice ball in breadcrumbs until well-coated.
Fry the Rice Balls:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the rice balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve:
Serve hot, “Italian Arancini,” optionally with a side of tomatoes for dipping.
